dorothy duroe

Dot is a community activist. Her Yorkshire Terriers are Sophie (with a red collar) and Tyson (blue).

'These streets belong to me and my tenants - I'm fighting for the rights of kids and the future of the area.

'I've been fighting for 11 years - I had my motability car done, tyres gone in the morning, had eggs thrown at me.

'I've got respect for the kids, I can sit down with them, but every time there's a promise its come back empty, so we're fighting for what we've promised them - if it doesn't come off this time there'll be the third world war around here.

'I like living here because there's good tenants, we get a good response and the thanks I get from them makes me know I respect this area and it respects me.

'There's a family community coming together here, putting decent people in with families. Its time for the stigma to go - Lower Manor is going to be the place to be. In five years, our vision is to have a community to be proud of - both for residents and kids.'
